Getting Off To The Right Start

 So you registered for a couple of Affiliate Marketing Programs - Now What?
Before we get started, we recommend (if you have not already done so) getting your very own Add This Widget. If you will notice on the task bar located to the left side of your screen there is an icon that has the text “+ Bookmark”. Hover your mouse over the “+ Bookmark” icon and you will see a drop down menu appear. This bookmark function and its existence on both blogs and websites alike and are becoming more and more prevalent in today’s society. The reason being – Portability. If you are at work, and you bookmark something to your favorites, you will not be able to retrieve this at home and vice versa. By utilizing the bookmark function through Digg, Technorati, Facebook or Google Bookmarks (to name just a few), you will be able to retrieve your favorites at any time, and at any desktop whether it be at home, at work, at school, in a hotel, etc. We will cover this in much more detail in a later chapter, but one of the cool things about Bookmarking services, aside from storing all of your favorites in a central location, is that you can easily share these bookmarks with others (in order to market your products!). We will be referencing many different site locations throughout this training, so it is important that you have all of this information available to you at all times, regardless of which PC you are working from.

Let’s try it now. Digg or Technorati are two of our personal favorites (from an ease of use standpoint); however, you can select any service that you prefer. Left-click the “+ Bookmark” icon to the left of the screen and select a Bookmarking Service. You will need to register if you are not already a member (Sign-up is simple and can be done in three easy steps - usually just entering your Name, Username, Password). When asked for a “Tag” for this site enter the term “Affiliate Marketing”. Congratulations! You have just bookmarked your first site if you are a true newbie, and if you are already a registered member of a bookmarking site, you can now come back to us at any time, from any location!
You can obtain your own version of this at addthis.com. It is an easy way to bookmark your favorites and share information between users. addthis will provide you your own HTML code that you can add to your affiliate web site, or affiliate blog. We recommend that you perform this step prior to proceeding. Hit the next button below once you have completed this step.
